This is my usual birding site, but I took this route with by racing bike last Sunday.

Nice view,looks like a good work out.
I think you need to join the cyclocross riders.
I don't know the popularity of this type of sport in Malaysia,
but I know it growing in popularity in the US.
Just change the brake to cantilever style brakes.

We have two LBS here
1.Kedai Basikal Wah Onn - cater to cyclist/MTB/Roadie
2.Kedai Basikal Meng Meng - more basic old bike/steel bike/children bikes.
Both at Jalan Besar Raub, not far from Restaurant Rada Kari Kepala Ikan.
