Garmin Edge 500 Chest Strap Battery Life

Garmin Edge 500 Chest Strap battery life, 6 months?
I bought the Garmin Edge 500 in December 2011. The display screen frozen I few days after testing it. So it was at Taiwan factory for repair and take 1 month to get it back.
Yesterday the Heart Rate sensor was non detected. I change the battery and viola it work.
I know that the claimed battery life for the main unit is 18 hours, but no body say anything about the chest strap battery life. The Garmin was used very moderately, about 30 minutes daily. The longest  ride was about 3 hours.
Use 50cent coin to open the battery compartment
CR2032 cost RM9.00
now the main unit can detect the chest strap sensor
RESET
change the old Battery with a new CR2032, close the cover back. After that the Heart rate was not shown in my Edge… To fix the problem, short-circuiting the monitor for a few minutes. Bypassing the battery contacts should cause a reset of the device. This could easily done with a paper clip or by inserting the battery in the wrong direction. The contacts of the monitor are installed in a way that the misplaced battery will only cause a bypass between the two contacts. Be careful: don’ t give reverse polarity to the device – only bypass the connectors! After this procedure the heart rate monitor build up a proper connection.
UPDATE Firmware:
 latest version 3.30

Boardman SLR 9.8 Review

A very good review from Cycling Tips by Matt Wikstrom . Click HERE
Although my bike did not come with an integrated seat-post, and not with Zipp 202 tubular, this road bike is much better than my previous Argon18 in term of stiffness, handling and climbing efficacy. I was very confident with this frame that I managed to register 61km/hr down hill from Bukit Lee Ribber last Sunday. It may look slow for other, but that my record speed.
I didn't have problems with  derailleur cables noise/twang.
I agreed with him that this bike is for aggressive riders, that can stretch down for more aero position.
My old spine cannot do that for longer duration, so I put 4.5cm  spacers under the stem.
So far I'm happy with this bike. Compare with other top end carbon frame in the market it is value for money and looking forward for next 140km event organize end of this month.
Oh, I forget that I need more training!
